5 Simple Ways to Organize Your Shed
by Dakota Storage Buildings, on May 16, 2015
The task of cleaning out a shed always seems overwhelming.
Sheds have a tendency to get cluttered, nothing appears to have a proper place, and things are always hard to find. Instead of organizing your storage shed for the hundredth time, use the shed organization tips below to plan out a strategy that will help you keep the shed looking nice once and for all.
Pegboard Wall
Setting up a pegboard wall gives you unlimited organization ability. You can hang shelves, tools, chairs, even hang a paper towel holder to help you clean up messes quickly. Incorporate some color and patterns into the space to make it your own. There is no reason that functional can’t be beautiful.
Shoe Organizer
This is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get organized quickly. Buy a hanging shoe organizer, and use it to organize a wide variety of items. You can store gardening tools and gloves, spray paint, fishing items, cleaning products, nails and screws, tools, etc. It hangs vertically, and you can even buy transparent shoe organizers so that you can see everything at a glance.
Hooks
Hanging hooks is a simple solution for keeping items easily accessible without creating clutter. There are types of hooks that allow you to hang anything with a handle – brooms, shovels, rakes, etc. And there are longer types that allow you to easily store cables, extensions cords, and hoses without getting them tangled. You can even arrange hooks to allow you to hang ladders horizontally across a wall. Think outside the box and arrange items in a way that works for you.
Magnet Strips
Magnet strips can make life a lot easier when working on projects. Nails, screws, bolts, drill bits, and other odds and ends always seem to go missing. You can install a magnet strip along a tool bench, incorporate it into your pegboard wall, or add one to any shelf to make it easy to stay organized.
Clutter Basket
Things do not always get put away when they should. We all rush around and through stuff in the wrong place at the end of a long day. So plan for this and assign a clutter area. It can be a box, basket, or other type of storage bin. The point is that when you do have time to do a quick clean up, you can go through the bin and put things back in their proper place. If something is not where it belongs when you are looking for it, you know to look in the clutter basket.
Keep it organized!
Ultimately, you have a shed or garage to make your life easier. It should be a place that is organized, convenient, and works for your lifestyle. There are hundreds of options when it comes to organizing your shed, but hopefully these tips give you a few ideas of how you can make your shed your own.
